About Us

In 2010, Patrick McCarrick decided to do something different to help raise money and awareness for childhood cancer research. something that would inspire people to join him in the fight to conquer childhood cancers. Along with two fellow amateur climbers, McCarrick established Climb for Five.

Climb for Five’s goal is to climb as many of the major summits around the world while raising money to support the much needed funding of  the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives.

The team climbs in recognition of children who are fighting cancer every day of their lives and the sad fact that childhood cancer doesn’t discriminate and that one in five kids diagnosed in the U.S. will not survive.

Climbs so far have included successful summits of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa , Mt. Rainier in Washington State in the U.S. and Europes tallest peak Mt Elbrus via the North Face.

In 2013 Climb for Five became its own not for profit working to help fund cancer research around the world.

The Climb for Five team has had people follow their previous treks on Facebook, and on their custom tracking website – following their progress up the mountains in real time using an “on spot gps.” The team has also received extensive media coverage throughout the U.S. and abroad including Ireland and the U.K.

In 2013 the Climb for Five team wants to bring 18 climbers up to the summit of Mt Rainier.  The Profits made on the climb will benefit childhood cancer research and treatment of cancer patients.

Our Goal

What we hope to achieve!

While we climb we update our blogs / Twitter / Facebook accounts via our logistics team in Europe and the US that we call using satellite phones.  We aim to educate
people about why it’s so  important to give to childhood cancer research, and to tell them that 1 in 5 of the kids diagnosed will not make it or that every 3 minutes someone gets told that their child has cancer.

We want to educate people about our cause, while at the same time raise money for childhood cancer research and treatments.

How you can help.

If you are a climber and want to join our team, email us @ info@climbforfive.com and we will respond with an application form.  If you are selected to be part of the team, we will give you a discount on the climbs we are doing with our guide partners RMI provided you raise at least a minimum set by the board for the climb of choice for childhood cancer research.

If you just want to donate or become a sponsor please email us help@climbforfive.com and we will get back in touch with you.

Sponsorship!

What are we looking for ?

Climb for Five encourage your organization to join us in the fight to conquer childhood cancers. We want to give all children the opportunity to not only survive, but thrive. Your support, however you wish to give it, is vital to funding life-saving research. This can be anything from a direct monetary donation to selling “Mountain Charms” (donate disks) at your locations during checkout while also promoting the Foundation with posters and handouts.

What does your organization get?

Publicity, and yes, also the fun fact to know we will carry a banner or flag with your organization’s logo on it on our climb. You would also be included in media outreach during all facets of the pre-climb, climb and post-climb – orchestrated by the climb for five Foundation communications team.
